UNH Facilities is a 24/7/365 operation and has responsibilities related to campus safety and emergency response. Due to the nature of our business, employees may be asked to flex schedules and/or respond to requests outside of normal working hours in order to meet the demands of the university. This may include early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday work as needed.

2. Valid motor vehicle operator’s license and DOT medical card (if applicable based on assigned vehicle weight).
3. at least one year of locksmith experience or related skill set
4. Experience with the function, and repair of locks, cylinders doors, and hardware.
5. Experience with the shimming, and planing of doors.
6. Carpentry experience
7. Knowledge of applicable codes/ordinances.
8. Knowledge of methods, tools and hazards of the trade.
9. Ability to inspect equipment, determine malfunction and make necessary repairs.
10. Knowledge and ability to use computers, tablets, smart phones, and software systems to perform work duties.
11. Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
12. Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary.
13. Solid interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written, to effectively communicate with customers, team members, contractors and supervisors.

- Completion of a Certified Locksmith course

- Respond to service calls and requests related to the operation, repair, maintenance, and alteration of doors, hardware, keys and key systems.
- Ensure work is of the highest quality while meeting all safety and security codes.
- Troubleshoot minor and complex issues and provide expert knowledge on solutions.
- Utilize electronic sources of trouble shooting and problem identification software.
- Provide exceptional customer service by responding to requests in a timely manner (according to priority timeframes), communicating status to the customer, and following up when the work is complete. Using the work management software, maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and time expended.
- Participate in the on-call rotation, and respond to emergency situations, including during off hours, as needed.
Duty/Responsibility
- Perform preventative maintenance activities including periodic visual and hands on inspections to hardware, doors, and lock systems.
- Update and maintain records in the work management software including but not limited to key holder records, lock inventories, and changes in building occupants.
- Participate and provide expertise in project management meetings regarding equipment replacement, renovations, and new building plans.
- Participate in efforts to enhance building security by utilizing new locking technologies and system upgrades.
- Complete other locksmith project work as assigned.
Duty/Responsibility
- Leadership and mentorship to the Facilities division.
- Participate, support, and demonstrate Facilities Forward concepts and contribute to a positive work culture.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities during work activities.
- Mentor, develop, and train apprentices and new employees.
- Oversee and provide feedback about contractors performing hardware/door installations or repairs on campus as needed.
Duty/Responsibility
- Follow all locksmith codes and recognized policies/procedures, techniques and safety precautions in performance of duties.
- Keep current on all required safety trainings, code license updates and any certifications required.
- Continuously seek out professional development opportunities that will benefit the University and your technical skills to stay current on technical skills and be knowledgeable of best practices, future trends and technologies.
