Science for Success is an initiative working with multiple land grant institutions doing collaborative research and extension on a variety of topics in Soybeans to benefit farmers across the United States.
Essential Job Duties
The Communication Specialist would assist collaborative soybean project managers in building a cohesive communication strategy for growers and other end users to help transfer information in a concise, informative manner.
Duties include:
- Amplify soybean research-based material generated by land-grant institutions.
- Co-create and help maintain an interactive map cataloging soybean issues arising across the United States
- Develop and edit research-based communication articles.
- Manage Science for Success communications through websites, newsletters, videos, email listservs, and other tools.
- Expand and maintain Science for Success’s social media presence.
- Develop standard Science for Success templates and style guides.
- Manage/update events calendars and directories.
- The position will be required to independently drive a program vehicle (pick up truck) to various site locations.
- Other duties as assigned.
At present, this position is time-limited for a period of 1 year with the possibility of extension contingent on reoccurring funds.

Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Other Required Qualifications
- Effective communicator.
- Knowledge and experience working with digital communications.
- Time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize with minimal supervision.
- Ability to interpedently drive a pick up truck.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with agricultural production, research, or scientific materials.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently and creatively.
- Ability to monitor progress, proactively identify problems, and work with teams to fill in gaps in performance.
Required License or Certification
- Valid Driver’s License and the ability to obtain an NC Driver’s License within 60 days of hire. License must be maintained.
