The University of Notre Dame’s Department of Development is in search of a vibrant and seasoned marketing professional and strong writer to spearhead storytelling and communication initiatives for the Office of Gift Planning. The role of Marketing Specialist is integral in driving the University’s expansion in planned charitable contributions by stimulating interest, cultivating leads, and boosting revenue. Positioned at the nexus of marketing skills and content development, you will collaborate with the Office of Gift Planning to proactively devise strategies aligned with team objectives. This involves benchmarking against peer institutions to glean best practices, partnering with various departments to create execution plans, and collaborating with fellow members of the Storytelling and Engagement team to craft compelling materials that ignite enthusiasm for planned giving and prompt action.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the conceptualization and research efforts for content related to planned giving, utilizing narrative storytelling frameworks and conducting original research to synthesize compelling proposal books, presentations, video scripts, digital communications, and other materials. These resources are instrumental for regional fundraisers and Development leadership in securing planned gifts for the University.
- Write, fact-check, edit, proofread, and scriptwrite for diverse audiences across various mediums and channels to ensure effective engagement.
- Expand the donor pipeline through lead generation, discovery, and qualification.
- Formulate and implement storytelling and communication strategies tailored to the needs of the Office of Gift Planning.
- Distill complex philanthropic planning concepts into engaging stories that effectively captivate and persuade the target audience.
- Define, analyze, and report on performance metrics associated with donor acquisition, lead generation, and revenue.
- Maintain primary responsibility, in collaboration with the Office of Gift Planning, for the creation, enhancement, and upkeep of all planned giving brochures, marketing materials, website content, and other relevant materials.
- Conduct benchmarking exercises on peer institutions to identify best practices.
- Define audience segments for Gift Planning initiatives and optimize content accordingly.
- Act as a liaison between the Office of Gift Planning and the Storytelling and Engagement team.
- Writing and team projects in Storytelling and Engagement.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1-3 years of experience in a related field
- Ability to lead complex business and project management teams to achieve performance goals while meeting budget
- Strong influencing skills and the ability to work in an agile and collaborative environment
- Strong analytical skills to be able to understand marketing cycle history and future opportunities
- Experience with strategic marketing tools such as segmentation, value proposition development, channel selection, planning and execution of marketing campaigns including go-to market plans
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Non-Profit Experience
- Familiarity with planned giving philanthropic vehicles
- Familiarity with the Catholic Church and Catholic higher education
- Familiarity with the history and traditions of the University of Notre Dame
