Job Description

Lane College invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Computer Science. Scholarly interest in areas includes, but is not limited to: Robotics, Intelligent systems, Cybersecurity, Computer networking, Internet of Things or Parallel systems. Main teaching responsibilities include introductory courses such as Introduction to Computers, Foundations of Computing, Programming I and II, as well as upper division classes within the CS curriculum. 

Job Description:

  • Teaching load is 12-15 credits per semester.  
  • Participating in department activities.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Blackboard, Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Faculty perform other duties including advising, curriculum development, and service to the college and the community. 
 

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in Computer Science or closely related discipline is preferred.
  • Candidates with as Master’s degree in Computer Science or closely-related field and 18 credit hours will be considered.
  • Evidence of outstanding teaching or teaching potential is essential.
  • The ability to lift 10 lb, 1% of the time.
  • Position may require some walking and the ability to climb stairs
