Summary Description |
The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to conduct research in the field of glaciology. The PDRS will use field observations, satellite remote sensing, and/or numerical modelling to understand the processes controlling the drainage of meltwater across and through ice sheets and ice shelves. They will have the opportunity to take a leading role in a field campaign in Greenland, though prior field work experience is not required.
The successful candidate will join a project team led by Meredith Nettles and Jonathan Kingslake at LDEO and Laura Stevens, University of Oxford.

Minimum Qualifications |
Candidates should be recent recipients of a PhD in the earth sciences, geophysics, glaciology, or a similar field. Experience in geophysical observations and/or modelling is required. |
Preferred Qualifications |
Experience with glacier geophysics (e.g., ice-penetrating radar, GNSS measurements, etc.) or mathematical modelling of ice deformation is desirable. Field-work experience is desirable, but not required. Note that candidates who are not able to participate in fieldwork, but have other abilities we seek, are encouraged to apply. |

Appointment will be for one year with continuation pending funding and progress.
