The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Auburn University is seeking to fill a nine-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 16, 2021. Duties include establishing an independent research program in Mathematics and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. An earned doctorate in Mathematics or a related field by the appointment start date is required. Applicants should have strong evidence of research and teaching ability in Mathematics. Postdoctoral research experience is desired. Successful candidates are expected to be able to communicate effectively in English. Excellent written and interpersonal skills are required.

We seek applicants with research specialization in Discrete Mathematics. The Discrete group is currently centered in graph theory, and we would welcome a candidate in a complementary area such as probabilistic combinatorics, matroid theory, additive combinatorics, design theory, or algebraic combinatorics.

The department has a PhD program and various MS programs, including a new MS program in Data Science. It has over 50 mathematicians/statisticians and more than 120 graduate students engaged in research in a wide variety of areas in mathematics and statistics.
