Job Summary

A Project Coordinator of a multi-component grant, funded by NIH/NIDCR, that aims to establish pathways to train and mentor School of Dentistry predoctoral students, postdoctoral learners, and faculty, as well as dental faculty from other institutions and from community-based clinical settings in clinical research skills. Another component is providing administrative assistance for a practice-based clinical research project that is testing and validating an artificial intelligence (AI) tool used for diagnosing dental caries.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

DEPARTMENT OF PREVENTIVE AND RESTORATIVE DENTAL SCIENCES
The UCSF Department of Preventive & Restorative Dental Sciences (PRDS) has a robust and expanding scientific research program including nearly $13M in FY2018 total costs. PRDS is the largest department in the School of Dentistry. The Department is comprised of seven divisions including Behavioral Sciences and Community Dental Education, Biomaterials and Bioengineering, Clinical General Dentistry, Pre-Clinical Simulation, Endodontics, Oral Epidemiology and Dental Public Health, and Prosthodontics.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of oral health or relevant dental concepts
  • Working knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in program planning and project management
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills; attention to detail; ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work well independently, complete projects in a timely manner, and prioritize multiple projects to ensure the completion of essential tasks by deadlines.
  • Experience in administrative and personnel management; ability to interact with NIH/NIDCR, Principal Investigators and study staff in a professional manner
  • Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Public Health (MPH)
  • Demonstrates ability to manage, analyze, research and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
  • Experience in clinical research administration
