The postdoctoral research associate will serve as project manager of a collaborative team collecting and processing habeas corpus petitions to design and populate a robust database that will allow researchers to demonstrate the many interpersonal and institutional relationships evident in these claims to freedom while also assessing their significance and value within the larger body of American jurisprudence. Understanding the habeas petitions of marginalized petitioners as powerful demands for legal reform, critical legal and digital methods are foundational to this study. The project manager will be responsible for assisting the Principal Investigator with implementing the archival digitization plan both within Lincoln and at particular archival sites; with overseeing and contributing to the indexing and data entry of habeas petitions; coordinating and managing team productivity; and monitoring data entry quality and consistency. The project manager will also travel to archives and conferences occasionally.
