The Educational Advisor, Educational Talent Search, will be responsible for the implementation of Educational Talent Search (ETS) program activities to program participants in grades 6-12. The Educational Advisor, Educational Talent Search performs other related job duties or responsibilities as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description. The position is a 10-month grant-funded (mid- August to mid -June) position. Some evening and weekend hours may be necessary.
II. Duties and Responsibilities
PROVIDE ACADEMIC ADVISEMENT: The Educational Advisor, Educational Talent Search, will travel to target schools and meet regularly (individually and in groups) with students to provide academic advisement. The information provided will be related to successful school completion, information on postsecondary education, as well as information on financial aid, careers, and curriculum planning designed for each grade level.
PRESENT ETS COLLEGE ACCESS CURRICULUM: The Educational Advisor, Educational Talent Search will review, adapt, and present ETS college access curriculum to participants at assigned schools in an effort to assist students with career exploration, goal setting, planning and follow through, and postsecondary preparation.
RECRUIT ELIGIBLE STUDENTS FOR ENROLLMENT: The Educational Advisor, Educational Talent Search, will recruit eligible students for enrollment, maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and databases, and well-documented participant files in accordance with federal guidelines.
PROVIDE STUDENT OVERSIGHT: The Educational Advisor, Educational Talent Search, will provide leadership, supervision, and accountability during ETS events and field trips to ensure well-being and event success.
ASSIST IN STUDENT AND PARENT PLANNING: The Educational Advisor, Educational Talent Search, will assist in planning for and attending parent information sessions, workshops, cultural and college field trips/events, and professional development activities. This includes assisting participants in completion of college and financial aid applications/forms.
COMPLETE REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION: The Educational Advisor, Educational Talent Search, will monitor and record participant progress toward project objectives, compile and prepare/submit accurate and timely reports, assist in preparation of statistical information for federal reporting and audit, and maintain accurate up-to-date records of personal time and effort for grant compliance.
