The School of Pharmacy (SOP) is a premier graduate-level academic organization dedicated to improving health through precise therapeutics. It succeeds through innovative research, by educating PharmD health professional and PhD science students, and by caring for the therapeutics needs of patients while exploring innovative new models of patient care. The School was founded in 1872 as the first pharmacy school in the American West. It is an integral part of UCSF.
The Office of Education & Instructional Services (OEIS) is the centralized administrative group in SOP Dean’s Office that provides a broad scope of education, technology and systems, data, and design services. Working closely with SOP Faculty Leaders, the Medical Center and campus partners, OEIS consists of several sub-units that manage education services for 1) the PharmD curriculum, 2) the Residency Program, and 3) Continuing Pharmacy Education.
The teams in OEIS design, conduct, promote, evaluate, and support pharmacy education programs in compliance with organizational objectives and nationally accepted accreditation standards and requirements. The OEIS teams support learners in areas such as curriculum, teaching and learning activities, scheduling, core competencies, assessment and evaluations, and student technology support coordination. OEIS provides data and technology analysis, solutions, innovation and oversight of all systems in the pharmacy educational technology ecosystem. The team is responsible for managing many disparate sources of educational data, providing systems support, and offering training for learners, staff and faculty. The OEIS team coordinates all activities associated with ongoing administration of pharmacy education programs. The SOP is undergoing a vast curriculum redesign, which will transform pharmacy education. The OEIS teams are responsible for administering and delivering the current PharmD curriculum along with the new, year-round Curriculum of 2018 & Beyond, including the management of overlapping curricula and education data until 2021.
