Duties of Position:

Provides vision and leadership for the Center for Student Involvement, Student Conduct/Outreach, Center for Veterans and Military connected students and the Events Management Department. The Associate Dean is charged with integrating co-curricular programs currently housed in various departments to create a welcoming, inclusive student involvement experience for all students through the Student Affairs Integrated Programming Calendar. Oversees programs and initiatives including but not limited to student governance, clubs and organizations, leadership, multicultural programming and serves as one of the campus Title IX Deputy Coordinators.

Leadership and Supervision

  • Provides vision, strategic direction, policy interpretation, implementation, program compliance, leadership, supervision, support and evaluation for the effective operation of the following areas; Center for Student Involvement, Student Conduct and Outreach, Events and Box Office Management, Veteran and Military connected student Center, and Leadership and Multicultural programming,

  • Provides supervision, training, evaluation for all fulltime and part time staff in areas of responsibility and faculty members who advise student organizations.

  • Responsible for oversight, support and guidance with the Events Management team and the Student ID box office operations. This team supports and is the liaison for Campus wide events, student involvement, community and classroom activities and events.

Title IX and Student Conduct

  • Serves as a Title IX Deputy Coordinator, responsible for Awareness and Prevention programming, and investigator. This role makes procedural and investigation recommendations to the Title IX Coordinator/ Dean of Students.

  • Responsible for the student conduct program and faculty/staff outreach and training on student/faculty rights, campus resources, classroom behavior management techniques, Title IX compliance, and informal/formal methods of conflict resolution. Provides consultation to faculty/staff about individual student situations. Provides consultation and guidance to offices and programs regarding students’ rights and procedural matters.

  • Oversight of the Harper Early Alert Team (HEAT), including: ensuring members have access to training and resources, serving as oversight for case management, approving formal recommendations to the Dean of Students on behalf of the team, developing education materials for the campus, maintaining team records, and maintaining up to date procedures and team manual in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Center for Student Involvement, Student Programming Model, Multicultural initiatives and Clubs and Organizations

  • Responsible for the daily operations of the Center for Student Involvement. Supervises the Target Vision TV display monitor system, including site location, equipment acquisition, budget and programming, and established priorities. Supervises Student Involvement posting areas, supervises poster manufacture, and approves usage of bulletin boards, two want ad cases, and ride board. Administers the Student Legal Services program and its budget, including supervision of a lawyer employed part-time for this area. Coordinates the development of and supervises the procedures and assists in setting the priorities for the use of the leased vehicles designed for student club and org use. Administers various student awards programs, including tuition rebates and an Awards Night program.

  • Responsible for the development, administration and assessment of the annual student affairs integrated programming model in partnership with Harper Wellness and other campus departments, which is approximately 500 programs per year Oversees and ensures diverse programs and events that meet the broad interests and needs of multicultural student which provide an opportunity for students to explore cultural identity in a safe and inclusive environment.

  • Oversees the supervision of Student Government, Campus Activities Board, Leadership program, and multicultural programming

  • Responsible for the development and approval for all procedures for student clubs and organizations regarding their activities, travel and expenditures, Responsible for providing content for monthly student emails, website updates, annual policy and procedure manual reviews and updates, Responsible for the end of year report.

  • Works in collaboration with faculty advisors and their respective Deans on club supervision, budget administration and end of year report evaluation. Administers budget including advisor stipends.

  • Actively supports the College initiatives focused on the recruitment, retention, academic success, and graduation of students of diverse and under-represented backgrounds and works to enhance the quality of under-represented students’ college experience through programming and leadership experiences. Develops college practices and spaces that create a diverse and inclusive learning environment.

Budget Administration

  • Responsible for the administration of the budget and expenditures of all student activity fees in consultation with appropriate representatives of the student body, Academic departments and the Dean of Students. This responsibility includes the annual tri-month budgeting process and weekly approval of all student activity-related expenditures.

  • Serves on Shared Governance Committee(s) by administrative position. Serves as the Building A administrator. Responsible for Student Engagement functions in the absence of the Dean.

  • Responsible for other duties as assigned.

Reports to the Dean of Students.

Educational Requirements: Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education leadership or related area.

Experience Requirements: Minimum five years of progressively more responsible experience in student life, advising student clubs, student conduct, multicultural programming, and student leadership. preferably at the community college level. Evidence of work experience incorporating a global perspective and demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity in higher education. Demonstrated intercultural knowledge and competence.
