About the Opportunity

Northeastern University’s Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship Program is a two-year fellowship designed to advance the education and training of Pharm.D. graduates in various areas of industry pharmacy including regulatory affairs, medical information/affairs, patient safety, outcomes research, and many other areas. The program is a collaboration between Northeastern University and biopharmaceutical industry partners.

Our program provides a dynamic academic environment offering fellows the opportunity for a wide breadth of experiences:

  • Develop teaching skills through participation in our Teaching and Learning Seminar series
  • Facilitate small and large group didactic education in partnership with a faculty mentor
  • Create, present, and publish scholarly research through collaborative industry and university relationships
  • Engage with faculty who participate in various interdisciplinary
  • Network with area residents and other Northeastern fellows via professional development programs, teaching seminars, and participation on fellowship committees

Takeda Gastrointestinal and Inflammation (GI2) Clinical Sciences group is within Research and Development. Clinical Sciences leads clinical development programs to bring medicines to patients with gastrointestinal, inflammatory and liver diseases. Clinical Sciences at Takeda provides medical and scientific support across the asset lifecycle, from early clinical development to marketed products for the Gastrointestinal and Inflammation therapeutic area.  The two-year Takeda Clinical Science Fellowship Program is designed to prepare post-doctoral scholars for rewarding careers in the biopharmaceutical industry. Fellows will learn the day-to-day role of Clinical Sciences on global matrixed teams by leading and contributing to the design, implementation, monitoring, analysis and reporting of clinical studies. The overarching program goal is to empower Fellows to be high achieving clinical leaders that bring transformational medicines to patients.  

In year one, fellows will have a rotational experience in clinical sciences across various development programs. In addition, a 3-month elective rotation with GMA, regulatory or another area of interest will be offered. Fellows will be integrated into clinical sciences typical daily workflows while potentially leading special projects and clinical initiatives. In the second year, fellows will have an immersive clinical science experience potentially having the opportunity to work autonomously as a clinical scientist.

The overall fellowship goal is to equip Fellows with competitive skillsets for clinical science positions and embolden Fellows to be high achieving clinical leaders in their career.

Qualifications:

Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited institution, eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Massachusetts OR Doctor of Philosophy degree in a biological or physical science. 

Excellent oral and written communication, time management, and leadership skills, ability to work independently and take initiative on a variety of projects at the industry site and Northeastern.
