MSU-Northern is looking for an Assistant Professor of Math to teach effectively a variety of undergraduate mathematics classes; to participate as a cooperative team member for MSU-Northern; to advise students effectively; to continue the pursuit of scholarly achievement; and to provide service to the institution and regional communities. MSU-Northern students rise to the top. Join our team and teach our students as they gain the skills and knowledge to enter successfully the careers of their choice. MSU-Northern is located in Havre, Montana. Havre, Hill County seat, offers great civic opportunities, community theater, a lively downtown, and access to outdoor activities. The areas's mountains, prairies, rivers, and lakes provide year round beauty and outdoor recreation.

Teaching responsibilities may include: Technical Math, Contemporary Mathematics, Mathematics with Healthcare Applications, College Algebra, Statistics, Math for Elementary Teachers, Methods for Elementary Teachers, Trigonometry, Applied Calculus, and Calculus.

Required Qualification
Master’s in Mathematics or applicable area

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate or ABD in Mathematics or closely related field

  • Minimum of two years of demonstrated experience as an effective full-time math instructor in higher education.

  • Demonstrated experience teaching a variety of college level mathematics courses;

  • Demonstrated experience with, or willingness to learn, the process of conducting courses through distance learning technology and platforms;

  • Demonstrated experience teaching in a computer lab setting;

  • Demonstrated experience teaching math for elementary teachers;

  • Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate statistics;

  • Ability to work within an established instructional framework;

  • Demonstrated experience working with students needing math remediation;

  • Demonstrated experience or willingness to work in a collaborative classroom environment where remediation occurs simultaneously with instruction;

  • Skills in design and implementation of curricular initiatives; and

  • Experience with diverse populations, particularly Native American communities.
