SCOPE OF WORK: Serves as the local/institutional point of contact for the LRCC learning management system, as well as other academic technology; includes serving as liaison with CCSNH, working with LRCC IT, and managing the functionality of the online platform, with particular focus on infrastructure reliability. Assists in the development, evaluation, and quality assurance of online programs. Also serves as a key resource to LRCC faculty and students. This position reports to the VPASA.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Serves as primary point of contact for the management of the LRCC online platform/learning management system. This includes facilitating between CCSNH, LRCC IT, and Academic Affairs, which encompasses the Library, Academic Support Center, and various faculty work groups and departments.
  • Trouble-shoots and helps faculty and students to ensure online and hybrid courses are delivered in a manner that ensures a reliable student experience.
  • As a key resource to faculty, staff, and students in the use of academic technology, assumes a helpful and proactive stance, and provides a regular schedule of creative trainings and orientations, both on-campus and virtual.
  • Provides direct and individualized support to faculty specific to the design and integration of technology with teaching and learning.
  • Liaison to LRCC IT regarding multimedia solutions, video/audio use in instruction, web-based streaming media, as well as on-campus/classroom academic technology needs.
  • Contributes to research and evaluation efforts on behalf of Academic Affairs specific to the use of technology and education; to include serving in a proactive capacity with data capture, assessment, and outcomes measurement.
  • Participate as a member of the Distance Learning Committee.
  • Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in instructional design, computer science, education, or a related degree field. Each additional year of formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: Four (4) years of professional experience in an educational environment with responsibility for planning and/or implementing instructional technology resources. Demonstrated experience with higher education online teaching and learning, including common learning management systems. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education

Licensure/Certifications: Valid driver’s license and/or access to transportation to perform travel, as required.

Desired Qualifications: Specific knowledge and experience with learning management systems including Canvas or other providers. Working knowledge of multimedia in instructional technology and its implementation. Knowledge of application development tools such as Visual Studio.Net and Java. Demonstrated ability to plan and provide training and to encourage technology adoption; ability to collect data; experience with online instructional design. Working knowledge of online pedagogy and an ability to help others improve their online teaching. Ability to analyze processes and procedures and make suggestions for improvement. Flexibility and adaptability in the work environment.

RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing the programs to which assigned, and of federal and community resources and organizations. Working knowledge of research and planning methods and planning techniques. Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to write technical information. Ability to understand and interpret the functional interrelationship of policy, regulations and procedures and to evaluate the impact on programs, service delivery, students and staff. Ability to detect and define problem areas and causes and to create and develop effective solutions, including the exercise of sound judgment in evaluating situations, planning action, making decisions and setting priorities. Ability to work independently to develop new or alternative approaches to meet changing and variable conditions. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
