Located in sight of majestic Mount Taylor (11,300 feet), New Mexico State University Grants (6,400 feet) is a small, rural, comprehensive community college of the NMSU system located in scenic Cibola County in central New Mexico 75 miles west of Albuquerque.

NMSU Grants serves a culturally rich and diverse student body qualifying as both a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and a Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institution (NASNTI).

We are conducting a search for a VP for Student Services for NMSU Grants campus. This is a full-time position with benefits, salary is commensurate with qualifications: Master’s Degree in a related field and 5 years of related professional experience related to the standard duties as outlined.

Job Duties:

  • Member of campus leadership team;

  • Establish and implement short- and long-term goals, strategic plans;

  • Monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness, effects changes required for improvement;

  • Oversees all facets of the daily operations of the Student Services unit, ensuring compliance with the University, state, and federal laws, policies and regulations;

  • Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion and enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution;

  • Evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions;

  • Manages Student Service budgets (Advising; Enrollment; Recruiting; oversee Testing Center and Student Government budgets) Supervise Testing Center/Coordinator for all testing to include Accuplacer, Hi-Set, and Pearson;

  • Become a certified Proctor for primary testing;

  • Directs, oversees and provide services for Admissions, Advising, Financial Aid & Scholarships (function as a financial aid advisor, loan educator, default prevention and scholarship approver), Student records and data, Veterans Certification (VA Certifying Official), oversee Veteran’s Resource Center; interprets and enforces academic policies and procedures;

  • Monitors and administers processes for student academic standing; participate in Curriculum Committee, assisting in the development of degrees and certificates;

  • Assist with or function as campus catalog editor of electronic annual Catalog; ensure accurate Road Maps and Degree audits; assist students with persistence, retention, and degree completion;

  • Update the NM Workforce Solutions database for the campus degrees and certificates;

  • Oversee and assist in the annual Commencement;

  • Provide New Student Orientations;

  • Work with 10 high schools for Dual Credit enrollment and success, coordinate and education with high school counselors and administrators for the Dual Credit Program;

  • Directs and implements all facets of the dual credit recruitment, registration, monitoring and compliance.

  • Process ADA Accommodation requests from students and ensure accommodations are followed;

  • Assist with development of semester Schedules and improving enrollment management for the campus.

  • Provide strategies and work as a team to provide recruitment of new, continuing, stop-out, transfer, dual credit, early college high school, and non-degree students.

Activities include:

  • Annual NM College Days, high school and Tribal recruiting visits, annual Career Fair;

  • Participate in area College and Career Fairs; FAFSA workshops, local events i.e. Health Fair, Feast Days.

  • Marketing activities to include NMSU Grants View Brochures, publications, newspaper ads, radio interviews and ads, social media, electronic promotions;

  • Follow up on student inquiries.

  • Collaborate with Program Managers to promote degrees and certificates.

  • Representation of the campus and promotion of higher education in our area and state.

  • Member of NMSU System CARE Team (Conduct Assessment Response and Education), implement campus discipline for non-academic discipline issues;

  • Title IX Campus contact (trainings, meetings, mandated reporter);

  • Responsible for the annual Cleary Safety Report/Daily Crime Log for the NMSU Grants campus;

  • Provide guidance and support to the Associated Student Government Advisor, Board, compliance, activities and expenditures; provide Aggie Experience culture activities with other campus entities – annual Career Fair, Semester Welcome Back for Student/Student Success Fair, other special events.
