Executive Director, Beat the Streets Detroit

The Executive Director is the key management leader of Beat the Streets Detroit, a not for profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Detroit-area youth through the sport of wrestling.

The Executive Director will be directly responsible for the strategic plan, administration, program development and delivery for the organization. Other key areas of responsibility are fundraising, marketing and working with the Beat the Streets National organization. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Board Governance

  • The Executive Director will work directly with the Board to fulfill the organization’s mission.
  • Responsible for leading Beat the Streets Detroit in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board of Directors and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.

Financial Performance

  • Develop resources (fundraise) sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.
  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of Beat the Streets Detroit, to include a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
  • Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
  • Responsible for fundraising and developing other resources necessary to support the mission.

Organization Mission and Strategy

  • Works with the Board and Director of Programming to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs and strategic planning.

Organization Operations

  • Utilize shared support staff (financial director, marketing director) to implement appropriate resources to ensure operations are efficient and effective.
  • Responsible for effective administration of operations.
  • Responsible for the hiring and retention of qualified and competent staff.
  • Responsible for signing all notes, agreements and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership
  • Minimum of 3 years non-profit management experience
  • Wrestling experience (preferred but not required)
  • Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
  • Ability to convey a vision of Beat the Streets Detroit’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector
  • Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
  • Strong public speaking ability

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
