The Multicultural Student Council Internship is designed to provide Salt Lake Community College students with the unique opportunity to work within Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs (ODMA) to increase access to higher education for the diverse student populations we serve. Interns will assist the Multicultural Student Initiatives Manager/MSC Advisor in providing personalized guidance, mentorship, and support for Hispanic/Latino/Latinx students. This MSC Intern represents ODMA and will have the opportunity to work with various college departments and community partners. To properly fulfill and succeed in the position as MSC Intern, the main duties are to represent, and serve the Hispanic/Latino/Latinx Multicultural Council students, multicultural and diverse student body of Salt Lake Community College.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Plan Meet and Greets, participate in Multicultural High School Days, Club Rush, Welcome Back Activities, complete CIP end of semester evaluations, and other duties as assigned.
- Coordinate, promote, and execute events and programs hosted by MSC Interns and/or ODMA.
- Perform clerical functions such as data entry, case management, spreadsheets, participate in student calling campaigns and other functions as assigned.
- Assist in outreach and follow up with coordinator’s student populations.
- Engage students who visit The Center for Diversity to answer questions and concerns
- Support and assist the Hispanic/Latino/Latinx students navigate SLCC.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of ODMA, and the MSC Advisor
- Address the upcoming activities and barriers these populations maybe facing
- Serve on various committees designed to tackle issues and implement initiatives focused on equity and diversity within Student Affairs and share the information with the other MSC board members; such committees may include but are not limited to, the following:
- LGBTQ+ Committee
- Student Involvement Center Advisory Committee
- Undocumented Student Resource Committee
- Services and Activities Fee Committee (Must Apply)
- Take full responsibility for other duties as assigned by the Director of the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, and/or the Multicultural Student Council Advisor
- Plan and coordinate MSC transitional trainings and succession retreats.
Complete and submit monthly academic progress reports to your MSC Advisor by the 10th of each month during the Fall and Spring semesters.
Serve as a voting member on the Multicultural Student Council and attend all meetings.
Schedule classes around the weekly Multicultural Student Council meetings (TBD-To Be Determined).

Minimum Qualifications
- Current Salt Lake Community College Student
- 2.0 GPA
- At least 9 credit hours during Fall and Spring semester
- Must not be receiving a student tuition waiver
- Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, international student, or DACA
Preferred Qualifications
2.5 GPA

- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
- Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
